EMS Week Proclamation
To designate the Week of May 18-24, 2008, as Emergency Medical Services Week
WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators and others; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; now
therefore, I, Chuck Myers in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of May 18-24, 2008, as
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
With the theme, EMS: Your Life is Our Mission and I encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.

EMS WEEK EVENTS:
AMERICAN LEGION AMBULANCE COT RACE
MAY 17TH, 2008-SATURDAY 1:00 PM
AMERICAN LEGION AMBULANCE BUILDING
17 COLLINS ROAD; ELDRED, NY 12732
DETAILS-The race will be a timed event on a course which starts in the back of a parked ambulance and ends up back there. A team will consist of 3 Corps members, each Corps may enter a maximum of 2 teams. Followed by a BBQ and a 15 mile "Light and Sound" cavalcade through the sleepy Town of Highland.
BLOOD DRIVE -MAY 24th, 2008 10am to 12 noon
at our Ambulance Building. In honor of our 60th Anniversary.
